10th July 2015

On Thursday 2 July, 14 teams from across the country competed in the Young Enterprise Company Programme competition final at the British Film Institute in London…

… and a team of Sixth Formers from St Helen’s School in Northwood won the National Finals of the Young Enterprise Competition for 2015.

Team Orenda have competed against teams across the country (involving over 25,000 other young people) over the last 8 months to promote and sell their product, a combined drink and snack container which is BPA-free and has an innovative button-operated flip-top lid. Their product website can be viewed here:

In addition to winning the overall Company of the Year award, Team Orenda also picked up the Creativity Award and received a cheque for £1000. The team will be off to Berlin in three weeks’ time to represent the UK in the European championships.

The Headmistress of St Helen’s School, Dr Mary Short, said about the evening: "I don’t normally jump out of my seat but when I heard that the UK Champions were St Helen's very own Team Orenda I was on my feet and cheering with everyone!"

"All of us at St Helen's are thrilled at the continuing success of Team Orenda, who have progressed further in the Young Enterprise competition than any of us had dared to dream. The girls' imagination, creativity and ability to work together as a team have played an enormous part in their tremendous success in being awarded "Company of the Year" in the UK Final, and they will undoubtedly become the leaders of tomorrow in their communities and professional lives. We are all so very proud of them!"
